Making a Splash @ LPL

Our summer reading programs are well underway and we're having a blast! Our children's program takes place every Friday at 11:00. We are still hosting preschool story time at 10:30 if you'd like to take in both activities. Our teen program is every Tuesday at 2:00. Although June is already over, we still have tons of exciting activities going on that we hope you'll join us for!

Book Sale!

Wow! We've been busy here in Lena! The months of February and March have been filled with all sorts of storytime fun! From Dr. Seuss to zoo animals, our storytime kids have been having a blast. If you'd like to join in the fun, storytime is every Friday morning at 10:30. We hope you'll join us!

Besides all of the greatness occurring during story time, we've been busy weeding! Our shelves are just getting too full, so it's time to do some Spring cleaning. To get rid of these books, we're having a book sale Saturday April 3, 2010 from 9:00am-1:00pm. You'll find great deals and steals on adult books and children's books. Stop in to help support your local library

Fun Stuff in February

February is filled with lots of fun happenings at the Lena Library! On February 10 at 6:00pm, we'll be having a cake decorating class called "Sweets for Your Sweetie." Tricia will be teaching us the best techniques to make a beautiful cake. Then you'll get to try out your new skills on your own heart-shaped cake just in time to make the perfect Valentine's gift. If interested, please sign up at the library by February 8.

Story time on February 12 will be filled with Valentine's love. We will be reading and story and doing a craft to celebrate the holiday. Afterwards, join us in the board room for a fun picnic lunch. Bring your brown bag lunch in and we'll have a great time with friends!

Don't forget about book club on Thursday February 18 at 6:00pm! This month we're reading Shutter Island by Dennis Lahane. I just finished this thriller last night and it was a great read! If you liked the surprise ending of the movie Sixth Sense, you'll love this shocking ending!

Stop in at the library on Friday February 26 at 10:30am for Horton Hears a Party! We'll be celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday in style. Mr. Bookmark will be here to read us one of his favorite stories. Then Tricia will show us how to decorate very special Dr. Seuss cookies. We hope to see you for this very special celebration of birthdays!

With so much going on at our library this month, we hope to see you! Stop in and check out all of the happenings along with all of the new materials we just purchased. Best of all, everything is free!

T.A.B.

We just finished up with our very first Teen Advisory Board (T.A.B.) meeting. I must say it was a great success. Thank you to those of you who participated! We discussed purchasing new teen materials that are more popular, along with some really fun teen programming ideas. I think that this board is really going to help our library become a much more teen friendly place. I will make sure to post when we decide to offer some of these great teen programs discussed at our meeting today, so that all teens will be able to come! If you were not able to attend tonight's meeting, but would like to participate in future T.A.B. meetings, please stop in at the Lena Public Library to pick up an application. Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday February 17 at 3:45. We'll have free pizza and soda too!

Preschool Storytime Fun!

We've been having a blast this month during our story hour! We've been talking about planes, trains, and automobiles. We read stories about trains and used our arms to create our own train. Last week, we used race cars to paint and even got to take them home. There is never a dull moment on Friday mornings at 10:30 when storytime starts. We welcome children of all ages.
